General TIPS & TRICKS III

1. Opening the Start Menu Folder:

In XP, you can quickly open the start menu folder in Windows Explorer using the command ' Start | Run', 'shell:start menu' and a click on OK.

2. Comfortably Managing Windows:

The new key combinations of [Windows] + [Up Arrow] simplify the maximizing and minimizing of windows in Windows 7.

3.Removing the Zip Function from XP:

You can do this in the command prompt using the command ' regsvr32 /u zipfldr.dll'. Use 'regsvr32 zipfldr.dll' for activation.

4.Clearing DNS Cache:

For clearing the Domain Name System Cache, open a command prompt andenterthe command ' ipconfig /flushdns' there.

5. Target Directory for Archives:

To extract the files with WinRAR with another directory, open the archive with the program and then press [Alt] + [E].

6.Display The Quick Launch Bar:

Right click on the task bar in XP and Vista, select ' Properties' and activate 'Display quick launch bar'.

7. Check the System Performance:

Press the key combination [Ctrl] + [Alt] + [Del] in Vista and Windows 7 and then click the 'Task Manager'button andopen the performance tab to see detailed information.

8.Pin Tools to the taskbar:

You can select 'Pin this program to the taskbar' by right clicking on a program icon in Windows 7.

9. Using the WinZip Wizard:

The WinZip wizard helps users to understand how the program works in a step-by-step way. To access the wizard, push Shift + W.

10. Toggle Between Tabs:

In Office 2007, you can toggle between tabs by keeping the mouse pointer on the multi-function bar and rotate the mouse wheel.
